Controlling Live Announcements

This section describes how to start and stop a live announcement. For background information see Live Announcement Content and Control.

NOTE:
Live Announcement is available only for MNS license users.

 

Edit a Live Announcement Template Before Launch

The following procedures outline the process to edit a live announcement template before launch.

Recipients

  • One or more live announcement templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the live announcement template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Select the Selected notifications expander, select the live announcement template.
  1. Select Live Announcement Content and Control, select Show recipients content.
  1. Select the recipients from the available recipients list or click Show contact list and select the recipients from the contact list.

Control Options

  • One or more live announcement templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the live announcement template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the live announcement template.
  1. Select Live Announcement Content and Control.
  1. Select Show control options content.
  • Edit the required fields.

Channel Selection

  • One or more live announcement templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the live announcement template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the live announcement template for editing the channel selection.
  1. Select Live Announcement Content and Control.
  1. Select Show channel selection content.
  1. Modify the channel selection options as per the requirements.
  • The live announcement template with modified channel selection is ready for launching.

 

Start a Live Announcement
  • An incident with the corresponding live announcement is initiated.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Browse the live announcement to be started.
    NOTE:     For more details on browsing launched live announcements, refer to Browsing Notifications.
  1. Select the live announcement.
  1. Select Live Announcement Content, click Start Live Announcement.
  1. Select Live Announcement Status, check the status of the live announcement.
  • If the status is Establishing, pick up the telephone which is dialed for the call back.
  • If the status is Failed, check for the error.
  • After answering the call, the status of the Live Announcement changes to In Progress, and the live announcement starts.

 

Stop a Live Announcement
  • An incident with the corresponding live announcement is initiated.
  • The status of the corresponding live announcement is In Progress.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Browse the live announcement to be stopped.

  1. Select the live announcement.
  1. Select Live Announcement Content, click Stop Live Announcement.
  • The live announcement stops.
