Integrating a Single CS11 System

Scenario: You want to configure a single CS11 fire system integrated directly into Desigo CC via NK823x on a BACnet network.

Workflow diagram:

 

Prerequisites:

  • The Legacy systems via NK8000 extension is installed and included in the active project
  • System Manager is in Engineering mode.
  • System Browser is in Management View.

Steps:

1 – Prepare for the CS11 Configuration

Configure the NK823x Ethernet Port

Before you start to configure the CS11 on Desigo CC, the NK823x Ethernet Port must be configured on the BACnet network.

  • Make sure you have completed the following workflows:

Define BACnet Network Addresses

Define the unique BACnet address (Device ID) for all CS11/CK11 units.
See BACnet Networks for NK823x DMS Applications.

Export Configuration Files for CS11 Panels

You can import the CS11 data structures into the Desigo CC project using the configuration files exported by the AlgoWorks tool. The configuration files are text files (.txt) that contain the complete data structure of the panels.

 

2 – Create the CS11 Fire System in Desigo CC
  1. Select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network].
  1. Select the Object Configurator tab.
  1. Click New and select New CS11.
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description.
  1. Click OK.
  • The newly created CS11 is added to System Browser.

 

3 – Add the CK11 Gateway Under the CS11 Fire System

You can skip this step for CC11 EP5.

  1. Select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [CS11].
  1. Select the CS11 tab.
  1. Click New and select New CK11.
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description, and the Instance number: the BACnet Device Identifier.
  1. Click OK.
  • The newly created CK11 is automatically selected in System Browser.
  1. In the Configuration expander, enter the following parameters:
  • Instance number: the BACnet Device Identifier.
  • Local address: CK11 address, as configured in the fire system.
    NOTE: Valid values are: 110, 120, 130, 140, 210, 220, 230, 240, 800 to 862 (default: 110).
  • Vitality check enabled: automatically selected.
    NOTE: Enabling the vitality check is mandatory, to correctly diagnose communication problems.
  • Vitality timeout (sec): the maximum tolerated delay of the heartbeat message sent by the Gateway name (30 to 999 seconds; default: 50).
    NOTE: The vitality timeout must be greater than the heartbeat message interval.
  • Protocol type: ISO1745 (default) or Cerban.
  • Baud rate: 1200 or 2400 (ISO1745), 300 or 600 (Cerban).
  1. Click Save .

 

4 – Add CC11/CI11 Panels under the CS11 Fire System

Repeat this procedure for all the CS11/CI11 panels you want to add.

  1. In System Browser, select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [CS11].
  1. In the CS11 tab, click New and select New CC11/CI11.
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description, and the Instance number: the BACnet Device Identifier.
  1. Click OK.
  • The newly created CC11/CI11 is automatically selected in System Browser.
  1. In the Configuration expander, enter the following parameters:
  • Instance number: the BACnet Device Identifier.
  • Local address: CC11/CI11 address, as configured in the fire system.
    NOTE: Valid values are: 111 to 118, 121 to 128, 131 to 138, 141 to 148, 211 to 218, 221 to 228, 231 to 238, 241 to 248 (default: 111).
  • Vitality check enabled: automatically selected.
    NOTE: Enabling the vitality check is mandatory, to correctly diagnose communication problems.
  • Vitality timeout (sec): the maximum tolerated delay of the heartbeat message sent by the Gateway name (30 to 999 seconds; default: 50).
    NOTE: The vitality timeout must be greater than the heartbeat message interval.
  • Ack mode: Always general ACK (a single acknowledgement command affects all pending events) or Single event ACK (a separate acknowledgement command is required for each pending event).
  1. Click Save .

 

5 – Connect the CK11 Gateway to the NK823x Ethernet Port
  1. In System Browser, depending on the NK823x serial line connection, select one of the following:
    - Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [NK823x] > [COM1]
    - Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [NK823x] > [COM2]
    - Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [NK823x] > [Expansion Board] > [COM3]
    - Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [NK823x] > [Expansion Board] > [COM4]
    NOTE:
    If COM 3 or COM 4 is used, you need to configure the NK823x expansion board. See Add the COM3-COM4 Expansion Board.
  1. Select the NK8000 tab.
  1. In the Configuration expander, from the Control unit drop-down list select the CK11 gateway you configured previously.
  1. Click Save .

 

6 – Import the CS11 Configuration Files

Configure the Import of Map Numbers

In the Fire System Options tab, in the Import Map Numbers expander, you can enable the import of map numbers and set the objects whose description will include the map number.

  1. Select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet network].
  1. Select the Fire System Options tab.
  1. Open the Import Map Numbers expander.
  1. Select the Enable import of map numbers check box to enable the import.
  1. In the Add the map number to list, select one or more check boxes to add the corresponding map number to the description of the objects when importing the panel configuration. You can select area, section, zone, and detector objects.
  1. Click Save .

Import the Configuration File for each Panel

  • Valid configuration files for each CC11/CI11, and CK11 unit are available locally or over the network.
  • The destination fire network is configured, and its associated BACnet driver is started.
  1. To speed configuration, set the transaction mode to simple. See Switching the Transaction Mode for CS11.
  1. In System Browser, select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [CS11] > [CC11/CI11].
  1. In the Import tab, click Browse and select the configuration file for this panel.
  • The configuration file is checked for errors and the Analysis Log button becomes available to show the check log.
  • If the configuration file is valid, the configuration file to import displays in the Source Items list.
  1. (Optional) In the Hierarchies Mapping expander, drag an additional hierarchical structure (physical and/or logical according to the database contents) from the System Browser position where you want to import.
    ATTENTION: Carefully select and link the node to the correct position as you cannot change it later. The only way to modify the additional import setting is to delete the destination node and create it again.
  1. In the Source Items list, select the configuration file and click the single selection button .
  • The configuration file is moved to the Items to Import list.
  1. Click Import.
  • The configuration data is available in System Browser.
  • The Import Log button becomes available to show the import log.
  1. Repeat the steps above for each CC11, CI11, and CK11 unit.
  1. When finished, to resume normal operational monitoring, set the transaction mode back to logging. See Switching the Transaction Mode for CS11.

 

NOTE:
If the imported file contains objects with a map number (a numerical reference configured at panel level to point to an external graphic), this number is placed as a suffix in the description text of the corresponding Desigo CC objects. For example, Automatic fire zone 1st floor - Map no. 700.

NOTICE
Objects limit in a project

Based on the hardware category of the installation, there is a limit to the number of objects a project can have.
- The system prevents you from performing imports that would exceed this limit.
- The system warns you if an import would approach this limit (90% or more of allowed objects). You can then choose whether to proceed.

NOTICE
Incorrect Interpretation of Messages

After first import, if the panel configuration is modified, you will need to import the configuration file again to align Desigo CC. Failing to import the latest configuration file may result in an incorrect interpretation of field messages. An Unidentified event is generated in all cases when a message is received with no corresponding data point.

 

7 – Configure the CS11 Events Clock Synchronization

To avoid inconsistencies in the events time stamp, you want to synchronize the CK11 unit clock with Desigo CC.

  1. In System Browser, select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [CS11] > [CK11] > [Device CK11].
  1. Select the BACnet tab.
  1. Open the Timing and Status Info expander.
  1. In the Time sync type drop-down list, select Local Time.
  1. In the UTC offset field, enter the UTC offset in minutes, with opposite sign (for example, if the UTC offset is +1 hour, enter -60).
  1. Click Save .

 

8 – Download the CS11 Configuration to the NK823x
  1. In System Browser, select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet network] > [NK823x].
  1. Select the NK8000 tab.
  1. (Optional) Open the Configuration expander, and configure the file transfer mode to apply to subsequent downloads (the current download applies the mode that is currently set).
    This option is set to Use secure download by default (encrypted data transmission on TCP port 20500). If you have a local and safe connection to NK823x, you may want to deselect the check box and apply a faster FTP passive mode. Proceed as follows:
    a. Deselect the check box. Note the warning message about potential vulnerabilities.
    b. Click Save .
  1. Click Download configuration.
  • A confirmation box displays.
  1. Click OK.
  • The download starts. After a few minutes, the new configuration is active.
    NOTE: Depending on the type of modification, the NK823x may need to restart to complete the procedure.
