Configuring Web Applications Libraries

Scenario: You are a librarian and you want to configure a new web application library to define display rules for a web application at a specific library level, for example, L4-Project.

Prerequisites:

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) is installed. For information on installing IIS, see Step-by-Step > Installing the Software > New Installation.
  • The Application Host Base extension module is installed. Expand Additional Web Applications Procedures and see Installing Application Host Base.
  • System Manager is in Engineering mode.

 

Steps:

1 - Create a New Web Application Library Block
  • You are authorized to handle libraries for a specific customization level (L1-Headquarter, L2-Region, L3-Country, or L4-Project).
  • System Manager is in Engineering mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Management View.
  1. Select Project > System Settings > Libraries > L2-Region or L3-Country or L4-Project > [folder] > […] > [library].
  • The Library Configurator tab displays.
  1. Click Add new object and select New Web App Library Block.
  • NOTE: For each library you can add only one library block of this type, however, you can add multiple web links to the library block.
  1. (Optional) In the Library Configurator tab, for the New library block, modify the following settings:
  • Version
  • Revision
  • Date
  • Notes
  1. Click Save .
  1. (Optional) In the New Object dialog box, modify the description.
  1. Click OK.
  • The new web app library block is available in System Browser.

 

2 - Create Web Links Library

A Web Links library block serves as support library for setting the XML configuration file for a web external application. This library is also referred to as the Web Links.

Only one Web Link library block can be created per library.

  • You have created a Web Application library block.
  1. In System Browser, select the new or existing Web Application library block.
  1. From the Library Configurator tab, click Add new object and select New Web Application.
    NOTE: For each library block, you can add multiple Web Links.
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter the following information:
  • (Optional) Name – Type a name for the new web library. When you change the name, the Description field also changes.
  • (Optional) Description – Type a description for the new web library. The Name field does not change when you modify the text in this field.
    NOTE: This is the name of the web library that displays in System Browser.
  1. Click OK.
  • The new web library is available in System Browser under the library block. Repeat as needed.

 

3 - Set the XML Configuration File of a Web Application Library Link
  • You imported a library that contains the Web Links library block or you have created a new web application library block and a new web application library link.
  • An XML configuration file for communicating with an external web application is available. Also, you removed any formatting in this file so that it appears in one line.
  • You are authorized to handle libraries for a specific customization level (L1-Headquarter, L2-Region, L3-Country, or L4-Project).
  1. In System Browser, select Management View.
  1. Select Project > System Settings > Libraries > L1-Headquarter or L2-Region or L3-Country or L4-Project > [library] > [web links].
  1. Select the Extended Operation tab, and do the following:
    a. Copy the content of the XML configuration file and paste it into the field next to the XMLFile property. This field is limited to 2050 characters and both HTTP and HTTPS protocol are supported.
    b. Click Set.

 

4 - Create the Library Folder for Display Rules
  • You are authorized to handle libraries for a specific customization level (L1-Headquarter, L2-Region, L3-Country, or L4-Project.
  • System Manager is in Engineering mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Management View.
  1. Select Project > System Settings > Libraries > L1-Headquarter or L2-Region or L3-Country or L4-Project > [folder] > […] > [library].
  1. Click the Library Configurator tab.
  1. Click New and select New Application Rule Root Block.
  1. In the New object dialog box, type a Name. The Description field is populated automatically.
  1. Click OK.
  • The new folder is added to System Browser.
