Configuring KNX Using the Network Wizard

Scenario: To simplify configuration steps, the Network Setup Wizard extension is installed by default, and you want to use this wizard to easily configure a SORIS driver, network, and adapter to integrate the KNX building management equipment in Desigo CC.

Prerequisites:

  • The KNX extension is installed and included in the active project. The following dependent extension is also included automatically:
    • SORIS Driver
  • The KNX adapter software is running and connected to the KNX equipment. For instructions, see Installing, Setting, and Starting the KNX Adapter.
  • System Manager is in Engineering mode.
  • System Browser is in Management View.

 

Steps:

1 – Select the Subsystem
  1. In System Browser, select the root node Projects.
  1. Select the Engineering Console tab.
  1. From the Displayed by drop-down list, select Application.
    NOTE: For other console engineering tasks, see Engineering Console.
  • The application icons display in a grid view.
  1. Click the Field Networks icon.
  • The corresponding node is automatically selected in System Browser. The Network Wizard tab is automatically selected with the Subsystem selection section displayed.
  1. From the Available subsystems drop-down list, select KNX.
  1. Click Next page .
  • The wizard displays Step 2 of 5.

 

2 – Add Network and Adapter Information

In Step 2 of 5, specify the following settings:

  1. In the network information section, enter the Network name and Network description.
    NOTE: To change the language selection, click the flag icon in the Network description field, select the desired language, enter the desired text, and then click OK.
  1. In the adapter information section, do the following:
    a. Enter the Adapter name and Adapter description.
    NOTE: To change the language selection, click the flag icon in the Network description field, select the desired language, enter the desired text, and then click OK.
    b. Enter the Adapter URL, which must include the port number. For example, http://136.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080.
    NOTE: If you want to create the adapter later, select Ill create the adapter later.
  1. Click Next page .
  • The wizard displays Step 3 of 5.

 

3 – Select a Workstation and Driver

In Step 3 of 5, specify the following settings:

  1. From the Station Selection drop-down list, select the workstation your subsystem will be connected to.
  1. From the Driver selection drop-down list, do one of the following:
  • Select New driver to create a new SORIS driver, then click Next page (this takes you to enter driver info).
  • Select an existing SORIS driver out of those in the list, then click Next page (this takes you to review summary info).

 

4 – Enter Driver Information

In Step 4 of 5:

  1. (Optional) In the Driver description field, change the descriptive text. To switch languages, click the flag icon, select the desired language, enter the desired text, and then click OK.
  1. Click Next page .
  • The wizard displays Step 5 of 5.

 

5 – Review Summary Information

In Step 5 of 5:

  1. Review the network information for accuracy. If you need to modify any of it, click Previous page until you arrive at the location where you need to modify information, and then resume the Network Wizard steps until you are satisfied with the configuration.
  1. Click Run Configuration.
  1. Click Yes.
  • The Network Wizard adds the subsystem network and adapter (if you chose to add it now) to Field Networks, and a driver (if you chose to add a new one) to Drivers in System Browser.

 

6 – Finish the Configuration
