Recipients

A recipient is a person, a device, a location, or a group that is notified by sending a message (text, audio, and multimedia) or performing a live announcement from Notification.

Recipient users represent persons who will receive messages from Notification. Recipient user profiles contain personal contact information, information about one or more personal communication devices, and the preferred delivery method for those devices. For example, a recipient user can be reached through various types of personal communication devices such as cell phones (phone call and SMS), email, and desktop notification software. Recipient users can only receive messages but no live announcements.

Recipient devices represent notification devices connected to and controlled by Notification. Examples of recipient devices are audio devices.

Recipient locations associate recipient devices with physical or logical locations. Locations are typically organized as trees with buildings, floors and rooms. Recipient locations are aggregators in System Browser that are explicitly configured to be recipient locations in Notification. When Notification sends a notification to a recipient location, the notification will be sent to all recipient devices associated with that location and sub-locations.
